WNF Policy Changes

Various changes have occurred within the lab throughout the previous couple years. This post highlights the major changes.

The lab user manual has been updated. This is the first resource for understanding laboratory policy. If you have any additional questions, please contact the laboratory staff.

The gowning room was remodeled and the gowning policy was updated.

Users are now required to swipe in and out of the cleanroom. A Coral display listing users in the lab and equipment use has been deployed outside the gowning room.

A new user induction process has been implemented through the User Induction website. The process now includes a streamlined method of obtaining pertinent information, taking the user quiz, plus scheduling of orientation and wet bench training.

A new facility rates list was published. The new fee structure lowers daily fees, and includes fees for microscope and wet bench use.

After a given period of time without use, users will be disqualified from using that tool. Contact the tool owner for additional information or requalification. Users will receive email notification prior to disqualification.

Users are now required to sign in to wet benches using Coral.

Additional video cameras have been added throughout the lab and adjacent areas.

Lists of chemicals allowed down both water and solvent drains are posted in the cleanroom.

The web Coral interface has been updated. Highlights include the Lab Status tab and the useful help menu.

User storage drives (labeled the M: and Q: drives) have been deployed on various tools throughout the lab. This should make it easier to save and retrieve data within the lab. These drives can be accessed through Coral.

Various tools throughout the lab can be enabled in place without having to open an additional coral window. The Leica microscope in the backend room and Heidelberg mask writer are two examples.

The WNF website has a new address (https://www.wnf.uw.edu) and has been updated. Visitor requests and new material requests are now processed through the WNF website.

Bringing a visitor into the lab will now cost a visitor fee.
